The Patinos team is hardworking, experienced and empathetic. From our receptionists to our Partners, our approach to helping clients is cohesive across all our five Brisbane law offices. We’d like to introduce our expert legal team.
Colin Patino is the Principal of the Practice. He qualified as a Solicitor in the United Kingdom and worked in London before emigrating to Queensland in 1997. Colin worked for a number of CBD law firms, specialising in compensation claims including acting on behalf of most of the major insurance companies before starting this Practice in 2003. Colin’s knowledge of personal injury law in Queensland and his experience acting on both sides of the fence gives him a greater insight as to how defendants approach claims. He has a glut of litigation experience and has set precedent in the Supreme Court of Queensland which is now used by the larger personal injury firms.
Colin is a member of the Queensland Law Society, the Australian Lawyers Alliance and the Pan European Organisation of Lawyers. Outside of the office, his passion is football. He is an avid supporter of Everton and coaches an under 15’s team.
Michael Coughlan is a Consultant with Patinos. He completed a Bachelor of Laws at the Queensland University of Technology in 2009. Michael joined Patinos in 2011, having previously worked in a number of positions on behalf of both Defendants and Claimants in the compensation claims arena. His previous experience in acting for Defendants has equipped him with valuable insight into what opponents are contemplating and doing. He uses this acumen to help clients to remain one step ahead, ensuring them the best possible results. Michael is a member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance. Michael’s popularity in the office increases whenever he brings in his homemade chocolate truffles to share.
Josh is a Solicitor at Patinos Personal Lawyers. Josh commenced work with Patinos in 2015 whilst completing his law degree. He brings energy and enthusiasm to the role and no little life experience. He completed a Bachelor of Business at Queensland University of Technology in December 2013 and headed to New York in the United States to work as a Media Buyer for a large network before deciding that law was the career he wished to pursue. Josh was admitted as a lawyer in Queensland in October 2018 and has developed his legal knowledge through a combination of work and study over the past five years with the firm. Josh attributes his highly competitive nature to his love of Rugby Union. When he isn’t in the office he enjoys a cold beer with friends or family while watching the rugby. We have no doubt that his thirst for knowledge will ensure that he has a very prominent, long term role within the firm.
Jordi has been working for Patinos since late 2017, starting prior to the commencement of his Bachelor of Laws degree. He is embracing every opportunity to further himself in his career, illustrated by his commitment to the firm, his studies and student membership in the Queensland Law Society and Australian Lawyers Alliance.
Jordi is a keen football enthusiast and when not playing or coaching, he finds enjoyment in watching Newcastle United and Brisbane Roar. He is a glutton for punishment!
